While most people see this HKS supercharger as more of a look and feel good, type of engine, it is more of a powerhouse. It is designed for s2000 owners, who like to drive daily to work, or just around town, with a higher torque, and faster drivability.

System Components

The HKS supercharger is divided into key sections that perform different roles, for the benefit of your car. Let’s take a look at some of these components, and how they combine, for this whole process.

Impeller

As with every centrifugal charger, the HKS Pro GT, has an impeller that operates, just like a rotor.  It rotates at a very high speed, and sometimes goes above 50,000 rpm.

At such a rate, it is able to suck oxygen rich air, into the system, and as a result, increasing all the essentials for better performance, horsepower, torque, and power.

With a quality built in operating system, it can withstand the toughest of conditions, without overheating. It is perhaps, the component responsible for initiating the whole supercharging process.

Diffuser

Just like in a turbocharger, the diffuser’s main job in a supercharger is to control the velocity of air, entering and exiting, the system. When high velocity air approaches this diffuser, it slows it down, increasing the pressure.

This occurrence, commonly results in compression, inside the volute. Here are the specific features that make this possible:

Diffuser Diameter

The diameter of this diffuser influences how much air is allowed into the housing, in one cycle. This measurement is crucial as it directly impacts the air pressure, at the inlet.

Diffuser Gap Distance

A diffuser typically occupies the space between the impeller, and housing volute. The distance between these two is what we call, the diffuser gap distance. How large this distance is, influences the velocity, and amount of air pressure, at the entry point.

Belt Drive

Connected to the pulley system, is this belt drive that ensures the smooth running of operations, within the system. It is responsible for reducing noise coming from the engine, making the wheels run better and distributing power, to the s2000.

The friction between this belt drive and the pulley is what keeps your car performing. It is elastic, requires little maintenance, and run perfectly for years. And In case the belt gets tension, the driving pulley’s tensioner systems, act fast to install it right back, making for a tighter rotatory system.

Ball Bearings

All round the supercharger system, you’ll find ball bearings distributed. Their role, is to hold the bolts in place, for better functioning. Far from your typical bearings, these ones have a metal shield, can exclude contaminants, and retain the lubricant for long.

They have a deep geometry design that enables them to support axial and radical loads, and contain high speeds.

System Components

Kraftwerks has built a solid blower, with this kit having some of the highly effective parts, in the market. They work together, and are relatively easy to spot, once you get your hands on this supercharger.

Here are some of the most distinguishable ones;

Compressor Housing

As air coming from the impeller enters the diffuser, it is transmitted in into this volute housing. It has an inlet port, where air enters from, and an outlet where it is discharged downstream, to a pipe.

Made from a strong aluminum casting, this housing is corrosion resistant, and tough to break down.

A compressor duct exists within the walls of this housing for the purpose of providing, better fluid communication, of the compressor wheel inlet, and the air inlet. It helps the whole system run smoothly, without interruptions.

This duct, together with the appendix takes a longitudal angle on the axis, to avoid any contact, and perform better, at any interface.

The height, weight, and size of the housing in this centrifugal supercharger, is pre-determined, to equal the pressure it holds.

Injector

The main goal of this fuel injector in this system is to keep track of the air to water exchanges. Fuel to air ratio must be correctly measured, and timed, for overall boost in performance.

The nozzles, and interjector body, are the main parts that drive this process.

At the tip end, the nozzle is connected with the engine system, to allow for better fuel transition. The interjector body, on the other hand, holds the other functional parts of the injector. The fuel efficiency of this supercharger kit, would not be successful without this interjector.

Pulley

Like any good supercharger, this Kraftwerks blower, has an effective pulley system that typically runs’ the whole show.

It facilitates the smooth running of the belt drive, improves air flow within the system, and is instrumental, in the combustion cycle.

When the tensioning system of the belt becomes loose, the tensioners on this pulley system, reduce the travel, and eventually, maintain its performance standards.

This pulley system if well lubricated and taken care-of, can last years on end, supplying your Honda’s engine, with the key ingredients, for more power.

Gears

Perhaps the most overlooked yet, important component in this supercharging system is the gears. Rotating in the same direction, one is connected to the crankshaft of the car’s engine, and the other to the impeller shaft.

They are useful in reducing noise from the engine, adapting to different situations, and boosting power in your vehicle.

Pump

This self-conditioned pump exists just below transmission. It has self-conditioned oil that lubricates the ball bearings.

For fluid flow to occur in the supercharging system, this pump converts kinetic energy, to hydrodynamic energy. This in turn, results in faster cooling rate, fuel efficiency, and better drive.
